SUMMARY:
The Construction Project Specialist manages and coordinates construction projects and related contracts to completion to provide a thriving learning and working environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Manages and coordinates construction projects, vendors and related contracts, collaborating appropriately with district and campus staff.
Performs site visitations to obtain proper project information and develop requirements for approval of project request, such as photos, and records detailed notes. Creates work schedules, reviews construction status, manages final job inspections, and prepares lists of items requiring completion and correction.
Addresses and resolves problems concerning projects under construction. Reviews correspondence, change orders, close-outs, warranties, and other documentations associated with construction.
Creates and maintains project files. Prepares project schedules and provides project reports as requested to include budgets for existing and future project budgets. Maintains project site information, including floor plans updates, chart, site plans.
Creates schedule for all new cell tower construction and up-grades weekly. Visits cell tower job sites. Responds to related phone calls, emails, and directs issues to proper administrator.
Reviews and recommends approval of monthly and final pay applications for maintenance and operation and bond projects.
Creates necessary drawings for facilities projects, data sheets, and budget spreadsheets prior to bidding and review of others.
Uses specialized software to update campus floor plans, site plans, evacuation plans as required. Provides occupancy notes and hazardous materials locations for safety.
Supports the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and school information; follows Governing Board Policies; performs all other related duties as required or assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:
High School diploma or GED equivalent; Associate s degree in a closely related field is preferred; AND four years of work experience related to the field of architectural design, building construction and/or facilities; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
License and Certification Requirements:
A valid Arizona State Driver’s License is required.
IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of building construction cost estimating procedures and methods.
Skill in accurately reading and interpreting blueprints and building and construction drawings.
Skill in using drafting software and applications.
Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project the consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations.
Skill in understanding, explaining, and applying relevant building construction, facilities, and safe work space rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Skill in planning, prioritizing, and completing assignments.
Skill in researching and compiling data for reports, presentations, building codes, and technical documents.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to provide excellent customer experiences, including but not limited to interacting tactfully and courteously with the public.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed throughout campuses and District facilities, both indoors and outdoors. Work requires exposure to hot and cold temperatures, potentially dangerous tools and equipment, and hazardous chemicals. Physical ability to perform all of the essential
functions (e.g. stand, turn, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach, lift, push, pull, and, work at heights, climb ladders). May be required to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
