The Berlin Steel Construction Company is a full-service specialty contractor, primarily with structural steel and miscellaneous metals. We design, fabricate, and erect structures in the Northeast and in other parts of the country. We have 2 fabrication facilities, 4 erection operations facilities, and 6 office locations that provide engineering and management of projects. We are a 100% employee-owned company (ESOP) with a desire for growth. We service the private commercial, public, institutional, and industrial markets.
We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support our Project Management team in delivering high-quality steel construction projects on time and within budget. This role works closely with Project Managers to ensure compliance with project specifications, manage schedules and budgets, coordinate communications, and support field operations. As an Assistant Project Manager, you'll gain the skills and experience needed to progress into a Project Manager position, with clear opportunities for career advancement.
Key Responsibilities Review project plans, proposals, and specifications; assist in developing project objectives, phases, and timelines. Coordinate with the Project Manager to prepare descriptions, schedules, and budgets for assigned projects. Support subcontractor selection and buyout; review bids and assist in negotiations. Organize project meetings, prepare meeting minutes, and maintain accurate project records. Ensure timely distribution of drawings, bulletins, and reports; collaborate with Document Control to maintain current field documents. Track project progress, prepare status reports, and monitor subcontractor performance. Assist with change order estimation and tracking; communicate updates to relevant stakeholders. Support field operations, including job site visits, progress photos, and testing report management. Promote a safe, clean, and productive work environment by enforcing compliance with company policies and regulations.
Qualifications Associate's degree in Construction Management preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to negotiate and solve problems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Microsoft Teams, and OneDrive Valid driver's license in good standing. Ability to navigate active construction sites, including climbing stairs and working in various site conditions.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with structural or miscellaneous steel programs a plus.
