We are seeking a dynamic and driven Permanent Assistant Controller with a strong background in construction accounting to join our team in the engineering industry. This role will be instrumental in managing and overseeing all aspects of our accounting operations. The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter with a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of construction accounting principles. This position will offer the opportunity to work on challenging and complex projects, making a significant impact on the company's financial performance.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee and manage all construction accounting operations including AIA billing, project cost, and percentage of completion. 2. Utilize Vista Viewpoint, Sage, Timberline, and other software to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records. 3. Prepare and analyze financial reports, highlighting any significant issues or trends. 4. Coordinate with the project management team to ensure accurate and timely AIA invoicing and T&M. 5. Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, providing insights and recommendations to senior management. 6. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures. 7. Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance. 8. Participate in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness. 9. Provide guidance and support to the accounting team, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.
Qualifications:
1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or CPA certification is preferred. 2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction accounting within the engineering industry. 3. Proficiency in Vista Viewpoint, Sage, Timberline, AIA invoicing, T&M, AIA billing, project cost, and percentage of completion. 4. Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections. 5. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders. 6. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation. 7. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and act tactically. 8. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team. 9. Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively. 10. Knowledge of construction accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations.
