Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Commercial HVAC New Construction Superintendent to lead large-scale HVAC projects from start to finish. This is a leadership role focused on overseeing complete HVAC system installations, ensuring projects are executed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Unlike traditional sheet metal duct installation supervisors, this position requires a comprehensive understanding of HVAC systems design, installation, commissioning, and performance optimization.
Ideal candidates will have extensive experience in managing commercial HVAC projects, including mechanical systems, piping, and equipment installation. Collaboration with general contractors, project managers, and subcontractors is a key part of this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership: Manage all on-site HVAC construction activities to ensure project goals are met in terms of schedule, budget, and quality.
System Oversight: Supervise and coordinate the installation of complete HVAC systems, including air handlers, chillers, boilers, pumps, piping, and controls.
Scheduling & Coordination: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules. Work closely with general contractors, engineers, and subcontractors to align all phases of the HVAC installation process.
Quality Assurance: Enforce quality standards and ensure all HVAC work is completed per design specifications, mechanical codes, and safety regulations.
Safety Management: Maintain a safe job site by implementing and enforcing OSHA standards and company safety policies.
Material Management: Coordinate material deliveries, manage equipment installation logistics, and ensure materials are available as needed.
Problem Solving: Identify and resolve field issues effectively, collaborating with project engineers and vendors when necessary.
Communication: Serve as the primary on-site liaison between project teams, clients, and stakeholders. Provide regular progress updates and address concerns promptly.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Commercial HVAC Superintendent or in a similar leadership role in new construction HVAC projects.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field .
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC controls, ductwork, hydronics, and piping.
Certifications: OSHA 30-hour certification is required. EPA Refrigerant Certification and First Aid/CPR are .
Leadership Abilities: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate large crews and subcontractors.
Problem Solving: Demonstrated experience in proactively addressing field challenges and implementing effective solutions.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications:
Experience with large-scale commercial projects such as healthcare facilities, data centers, or industrial plants.
Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) and HVAC commissioning processes.
Familiarity with construction management software like Procore or Bluebeam.
