A commissioning representative shall validate that new equipment and systems are installed, tested, and working properly. A commissioning representative needs to have a thorough technical understanding of the equipment and systems.

Validation Duties:

· Review the technical documentation of client systems and machinery to understand their functions

· Collaborate with construction companies / GCs to ensure safety and quality regulations are being met

· Technical support & system installation verification on-site

· Visit remote vendor sites to monitor the testing of equipment

· Monitor equipment checks and system tests in the field to ensure correct operation

· Review test results and reports to confirm compliance with technical specifications

Experience:

· 5+ years experience in industrial construction, operations, and commissioning

· Knowledge of construction quality process, means, methods, and installation procedures

· Familiarity with sequence of operations, controls, and system integration

· Knowledge or ability to research codes, specs, and standards, and interpret requirements against installed product

· Strong computer skills and familiarity with industry standard software

· Strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills

Requirements

Experience & Technical Competency

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial construction, system operations, and commissioning of MEP and utility systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of construction quality processes, means and methods, and system installation procedures.
  • Experience verifying system functionality, including equipment startup, controls integration, and operational testing.

Validation & Verification Duties

  • Proven ability to review technical documentation (e.g., design drawings, O&M manuals, submittals) to validate system function and performance.
  • Experience conducting on-site installation verifications, including equipment checks, field observations, and test witnessing.
  • Ability to analyze and confirm compliance of test results and commissioning reports with technical specifications and performance criteria.

Knowledge of Systems & Standards

  • Strong understanding of sequence of operations, controls logic, and system integration principles.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes, specifications, and industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, ISA, SMACNA).
  • Ability to interpret requirements and assess installations against contract documents and applicable standards.

Communication & Coordination

  • Proven experience working in a collaborative environment with contractors, engineers, and owner teams.
  • Ability to coordinate with General Contractors and vendors to ensure safety, quality, and commissioning milestones are achieved.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to support reporting, punchlists, and field documentation.

Travel & Field Presence

  • Willingness and ability to travel to remote vendor locations for equipment validation and testing.
  • Ability to work on active construction sites and perform field verification tasks under varied environmental conditions.

Technology Proficiency

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and commissioning/project management tools (e.g., Bluebeam, CxAlloy, Procore).
  • Ability to read and mark up construction drawings, review schedules, and manage digital commissioning records.
