Overview We are looking to employ an experienced Concrete Construction Estimator to support our teams that provide safe and successful concrete foundations and flatwork services. The Estimator will be accountable for efficiently and effectively preparing project estimates including quantity takeoffs, material and subcontractor pricing, work item identification and productivity, and final pricing compilation. Responsibilities At J.J. Barney Construction, you will have responsibilities based on the projects needs. They will typically include, but may not be limited to: Follow estimating procedures with the end goal being uniformity within the department. Utilize bid boards and relationships to identify new estimating opportunities. Attend pre-bid meetings, walk-throughs, and site visits. Review bid requirements for projects ensuring all aspects of the project are documented and accounted for. Prepare quantity takeoffs, work with subs and suppliers to secure competitive pricing. Identify, manage, and maintain relationships with subcontractors, ensuring bids are completed timely, completely, and accurately. Develop and maintain working relationships with customers through direct communication. Properly turn over bid documents and sub/supplier buyout information to Project Manager in a timely manner (handoff meetings). Prepare estimates in JJB estimating software, review estimates prior to submittal, and write up estimates on JJB form letter. Save all estimating information to JJB master file (prints, sub/supplier pricing, takeoffs, estimate, proposal letter) Other duties as assigned. Experience and Skills Required: Minimum of 5 years of concrete construction estimating experience Familiarity with concrete construction applications and processes Ability to read and interpret construction drawings Ability to manage several tasks at once, commit to deadlines. Proficiency with Bid-2-Win software, HCSS software, Sage software Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word Excellent communication and organizational skills Strong work ethic with an unwavering commitment to quality and professional work Ability to carefully follow written and verbal directions Valid drivers license with a clean driving record is preferred Highly competitive compensation, health insurance, optional vision and dental insurance, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, paid time off, SIMPLE IRA retirement plan, profit sharing, a company- provided cell phone or phone allowance, and a company-provided vehicle or vehicle allowance. The Project Manager will be accountable for efficiently and effectively managing construction projects including overall project planning, scheduling, reporting, accounting, and control. Responsibilities At J.J. Barney Construction, you will have responsibilities based on the construction projects needs. They will typically include, but may not be limited to: Communicate and uphold the Companys commitment to integrity and our core values, as well as ensuring the same for the entire team. Fully understand scope of work and corresponding pricing (per drawings, proposal, contract documents) Meet with foreman to transfer necessary project information (pre-construction meeting) Identify project information for all departments use Request and submit required project documentation & notify other departments Collaborate with safety and project teams to complete visual job site safety inspections. Assist and collaborate with the Project Engineers and Construction Teams to ensure satisfactory job progress through frequent phone calls, meetings, and job site visits. Review weekly job progress, job costs, change order requests, look-ahead schedules, etc. Maintain document control including but not limited to submittals, RFIs, drawings, Manage change order process including identification, compilation, estimating, submission, and follow up; maintain Change Order Log. Assist in preparation of progress invoices; prepare Over/Under Billing Statements. Efficiently and expeditiously close out projects, provide as-builts & warranties, and review and analyze project profit/loss statement. Experience and Skills Required: Bachelor degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or other relevant discipline and 5 years of construction experience, or Associates degree and 8 years of construction experience Familiarity with concrete construction applications and processes Ability to read and interpret construction drawings. Ability to handle correspondence with customers, vendors, and Project Team members in a professional manner. Ability to manage several tasks at once. Proficiency with project document controls such as, Procore, Planswift, HCSS Plans & Heavy Job Proficiency using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word Excellent communication and organizational skills. Strong work ethic with an unwavering commitment to quality and professional work. Ability to carefully follow written and verbal directions. Valid drivers license with a clean driving record is preferred.
