LOCATION: Columbia, South Carolina

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Assistant Construction Superintendent supports the Construction Superintendent in overseeing
daily operations on construction sites. This role involves coordinating tasks, managing
schedules, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, quality control, and collaborating
with various stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget and to the
required quality standards. In addition, the Assistant Superintendent will provide support to
Superintendents and Project Managers concerning all aspects of the project including scheduling,
finance, field operations and project administration. Must display excellent customer service
skills, including solid communication and interpersonal abilities and the ability to interact in a
positive way with a wide variety of different types of clients, subcontractors, fellow employees,
management and office personnel while providing outstanding service.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

o Communicate with subcontractors, suppliers and other vendors regarding scheduled activities and
needs on project site.
o Assist with creation of daily reports within Procore and other project software.
o Provide support for site access / base access coordination.
o May be required to act as short-term independent supervision on a project site.
o Assist with submittal process, close out documents, ETC.. As appropriate.
Quality Control:
o Assist Superintendents and Project Managers with project QC plan development and implementation.
o Ensure that all submittals are completed in accordance with the project documents.
o Review and update Deficiency List, Discrepancy List and Punch List.
o Assist in communicating project changes and their implementation.
o Assist with creation and review of submittals and compare with received material deliveries
onsite.
o Ensure testing services are coordinated as may be required by the schedule.
Project Scheduling:
o Assist with development of 3-week or 4-week outlooks.
o Provide back sight to Superintendents, including providing input and double-checking milestone
schedule.
o Review schedule to understand long lead items and upcoming schedule needs.
o Review and understand project milestones to make sure needed deadlines are met.
Financial Management:
o Be knowledgeable of project budget and ensure purchases and receipts are properly coded and
submitted.
o Assist with review of subcontractor and vendor invoicing.

o Be familiar with Davis Bacon Act and/or Service Contract Act and wage determinations applicable
on assigned projects.
o Review invoices and deliveries against active Purchase Orders under the supervision of the
Superintendent.
Staff Development and Mentoring:
o Take the initiative to develop at least one "mentor" relationship with a Superintendent
or Project Manager to assist in your career.
o Actively identify and recruit professional and craft construction personnel.
o Encourage a fun and safe working environment, including positive morale.
Safety:
o Ensure compliance with Tribal One, OSHA and client safety requirements for all stakeholders.
o Support and attend employee, subcontractor and vendor safety orientations.
o Review and be familiar with AHAs and ensure that the AHAs are available in hard copy in the field
when needed.
o Participate in safety inspections.
o Assist Superintendents and/or Site Safety and Health Officers to ensure project personnel are
adequately trained and accountable in the following: Accident Prevention Plan, Activity Hazard
Analyses and ensuring an overall safe jobsite.
o Maintain a clean and safe physical environment.
Customer Satisfactions:
o Maintain professional and courteous communication with all project team members, including
vendors, subcontractors, clients and coworkers.
o Return phone calls and emails within 24 hours.
o Make sure work is completed when you say it will and do what you say you will do.
Work Procurement:
o Attend pre-bid site visits as requested.
o Build sub-contractor relationships.
o Assist in bid and proposal creation.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge/Skill/Ability:
o Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in a construction setting; prefer experience in the
field.
o Associate's degree in construction management or another related field preferred.
o Two (2) to four(4) years of experience in electrical or plumbing. (preferred)
o Familiar with construction project practices/procedures and have working knowledge of field
activities.
o Ability to lead and work with others.
o Ability to monitor/enforce job-site safety, including OSHA 30 certification (required).
o Strong troubleshooting, math, analytical and problem-solving skills.
o Detailed oriented, including exhibiting excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
o Strong documentation and reporting skills.
o Professional appearance and demeanor.
o Available to work holidays, weekends and evenings as needed.
o Available to travel outside local area when required.
o Ability to manage multiple tasks, stay organized and complete assignments in a timely, accurate
manner.
o Federal government contracting or employment experience is required.
o Valid driver's license.
o Ability to successfully pass and remain in compliance with required background checks from Tribal
1 and any required federal government background checks.
o Contract may require the individual to be either a citizen of the U.S. or a non-U.S. citizen who
has been lawfully admitted for permanent residence as evidenced by a Permanent Resident Card (USCIS
I-551).
o Must pass drug screen and remain in compliance with drug free workplace policies.
