POSITION SUMMARY Wetzel's Pretzels has grown to more than 400 fresh bakeries across the United States and around the world since 1994. Headquarters located in beautiful Pasadena, California, currently has an opportunity for a Construction Coordinator to join the team. This Wetzel’s Pretzels construction team member will assist in coordination of new store development and renovations of all Wetzel’s Pretzels Franchise stores to meet budgets and schedules. This position will be highly involved in the practical coordination and execution of the construction phase, bridging the gap between project planning and on-site implementation. This is a mid-level position with a strong emphasis on communication and collaboration that would assist the Franchisees’ and report to the WP Construction Project Managers.
JOB FUNCTIONS GENERAL
This position will manage all phases of the construction project, from pre-construction to post-construction. Key responsibilities include: Restaurant Equipment/ Procurement Management Manage all phases of development projects for new builds, refresh, remodel, and relocation projects on behalf of franchisees and/or Kahala Brands Effectively work with the WP construction team, maintain open communication, advise on status of projects and elevate job site issues
PRE-CONSTRUCTION Follow up with architect, landlord and government agencies health and building (through permit expeditor) on the store design and approval Perform detailed take-off of FF & E counts from plans (Kitchen equipment, millwork, furniture, etc.) and solicit/review 3rd party proposals presenting to the Franchisee Solicit general contractor, coordinate bidding by issuing drawings for bid and report Contractor’s bids for Franchisee to award GC. Establish a construction schedule with the Contractor for WP and the Franchisee Review construction document package Work with other departments to facilitate project implementations Provide support as needed to the Franchisee during the entire development process
CONSTRUCTION Organize and participate in regularly scheduled project progress conference calls, MS Teams and other group meetings Provide timely responses to all construction related RFI’s and field issues Review shop drawings and submittals, provide feedback when necessary Track Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FF & E), owner (Franchisee) supplied item orders, delivery and install status Monitors the quality of work and ensures it meets the project/brand standards. Follow up on completion of Wetzel’s, landlord, building and health departments provided corrections/ punch list of construction finish items for the Contractor. Work with the Contractor to complete certificate of occupancy requirements and turn the store over to WP operations and the Franchisee, ready to operate. Track project key milestones, costs, timelines, and report to management Obtain, organize and electronically file all project documentation, assisting Project Managers with any additional duties, tasks and administrative needs.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES Manage and facilitate special projects on behalf of Franchisees and/or Kahala Brands Operations Act in a facilities management capacity as needed New product and material search Manage and administrate equipment warranty claims as needed Ability to travel at times required
JOB REQUIREMENTS 3 years construction coordination/management and procurement experience. Will consider candidates with college degree in related studies in lieu of experience Knowledge of Restaurant equipment procurement is a must. Background in restaurant remodels and facilities management is a plus Detailed understanding of plans, construction documents and engineering disciplines Detailed knowledge and experience with restaurant equipment and FF & E procurement Ability to communicate with and manage multiple disciplines (architects, engineers, suppliers etc.) simultaneously Willingness to work with multiple, individual and diverse franchisee clientele Ability to learn and retain brand standards/trade dress for multiple brands Possess strong verbal and written communication skills Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint) Must be able to work within a team structure and be prepared to take a leadership role.
