Visit the Employee Benefits page for more information… Position Summary & Responsibilities: Position Summary: This Engineering Associate position works in the District Five office located in Hutchinson KS. This position provides engineering guidance and administration for the construction of the highway and related projects. Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Deliver effective leadership and supervision to the assigned work unit, conduct performance reviews, coaching and counseling, discipline and provide developmental opportunities for employees Interprets specifications, plans, and special provisions to project personnel. Conducts preconstruction conferences with contractors, utilities, county and city engineers to discuss potential problem areas. Performs routine office duties consisting of the review and approval of numerous project reports, pay estimates, documentation procedures, personnel payroll and reports, equipment, etc. Many of these office tasks will involve the use of a personal computer and networking system. Meets and confers with utility owners, general public and other agencies to coordinate their interests in KDOT projects, such as Kansas Dept. of Health and Environment, monitors the air pollution of hot mix plants and the contamination of streams from run off. View the full position description Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Four years of direct experience in engineering. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. Transcripts are required for education to be considered. Engineer in Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certificate. Valid Driver’s License at time of appointment. Preferred Qualifications: Extensive experience in the administrative of highway construction projects. Experience in supervising engineers and engineering technicians.
