Estimator / Cost Analyst

Signature Homes is currently seeking an Estimator / Cost Analyst. THIS POSITION IS AN IN-OFFICE ROLE, BASED HERE IN OUR HOOVER, AL OFFICE.

The Construction Estimator/Cost Analyst role ensures the accurate purchasing of all materials and labor needed to construct the options we offer our customers. This involves the setup and maintenance of takeoffs, supplier rates, and purchasing systems in our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, namely Constellation Newstar. This will be accomplished through:

Maintaining a thorough knowledge of project details, specifications, floor plans, options, and Newstar

Ensuring project schedules are met and proper communication is achieved with other teams

Embodying a culture of support, cooperation, improvement, and innovation

Priorities/Metrics:

Timely and accurate house and option costing

Ongoing takeoff and system maintenance

Responsibilities:

Set up and maintenance of vendor rate structures, ensuring alignment with company cost standards and budget requirements

Analyze vendor rates for cost trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for cost savings

Maintain construction schedule templates

Review and analyze house plans to ensure accurate option costing and material take offs

Estimate and maintain takeoffs for base house budgets, structural options, and design options

Review cost versus margin targets and evaluate for value engineering and cost saving opportunities

Skills and Experience:

Required:

High school diploma

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook

Multi-tasking and organizational capabilities

Detail-oriented with independent problem solving ability

Ability to read and interpret house plans and blueprints

Experience with Excel Pivot tables and/or PowerBI

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Building Science, Construction Management, or related field
