Mechanical Contractor Estimator Our client is a leading mechanical contractor based in Fraser, MI who is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Mechanical Contractor Estimator to join our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for evaluating project plans, performing material takeoffs, and generating accurate cost estimates for mechanical systems-including HVAC and plumbing-in commercial and industrial construction projects. This position plays a critical role in ensuring competitive, profitable bids and supporting the success of our projects from start to finish. Responsibilities: Analyze project plans and specifications to determine the full scope of work. Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, and equipment. Develop comprehensive cost estimates, including subcontractor and vendor pricing. Source and negotiate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors. Prepare and submit formal proposals and bids in alignment with project requirements. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other internal stakeholders to ensure accurate estimating and seamless hand-off. Identify potential risks and recommend value engineering or mitigation strategies. Monitor project budgets and timelines to help ensure profitability and schedule compliance. Qualifications: Technical understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping). Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills. Effective communication and relationship-building skills. Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of relevant building codes and safety regulations. Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. 3+ years of experience in mechanical estimating or a related construction role.
