???? Construction Inspector – VMI Campus Projects
Location: Lexington, VA (Onsite, long-term opportunity)
iParametrics is seeking a Construction Inspector to support a multi-year program on the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) campus in Lexington, VA. This individual will serve as the owner’s representative on multiple large-scale, concurrent construction projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of Virginia building codes, regulatory standards, and experience with DoD or Higher Education construction. This long-term opportunity may span up to 10 years.

????️ Responsibilities include:
Act as the owner's on-site representative throughout all project phases
Ensure compliance with contract requirements, state/local building codes, and permit regulations
Oversee safety compliance, including OSHA and environmental health & safety (EHS) standards
Conduct regular site inspections, field reporting, and photographic documentation
Maintain daily logs detailing work performed, measurements, and site observations
Review and interpret construction plans for completeness, accuracy, and constructability
Participate in technical reviews of submittals and development plans
Identify and document discrepancies or non-compliant items during inspections
Conduct infrastructure walk-throughs and develop punch lists
Attend weekly construction meetings and coordinate with contractors and stakeholders
Support testing, field demonstrations, and safety briefings
Ensure construction adheres to applicable safety regulations and building codes
✅ Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma with 10+ years of experience in construction inspection and oversight
U.S. Citizenship required due to project security requirements
Must pass state and federal criminal background checks
Must pass pre-employment drug screening
Ability to work on active construction sites with varying terrain and environmental conditions
Must be able to lift 25+ lbs., work at heights, climb ladders/stairs, and wear required PPE
Comfortable performing fieldwork in both indoor and outdoor conditions up to 50% of the time
???? Preferred Qualifications:
5–10 years overseeing large vertical DoD or Higher Education construction projects
Graduate of Virginia Military Institute (VMI)
Experience using Microsoft Office and RMS
Familiarity with USACE Three-Phase Inspection Process
Knowledge of EM 385-1-1 Safety Requirements
