The Union County Engineer's Office is now hiring a full-time Construction Inspector to join our Engineer team. Under the administrative direction of the County Engineer, the Construction Inspector performs a variety of inspections across the county. Primary duties involve inspecting new construction and development sites, road improvement projects, and work associated with right-of-way or driveway permits and special hauling permits. Also assists with drainage projects and routine, annual inspections and inventory of county infrastructure to include bridges and culverts, and issuing and enforcing right of way permits, including restoration.

Qualifications: Completion of an Associate's degree in Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, or related field and four (4) years of engineering or surveying experience, or equivalent; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license and maintain insurability under the County's vehicle insurance policy; bridge inspector (O.D.O.T.) beneficial. Equipment operated: The following are examples only and are not intended to be all inclusive: Computer, copier, calculator, plotter/scanner, surveying equipment, small truck or automobile. Inherently hazardous or physically demanding working conditions: Is exposed to possible injury as a result of falling from high places and working around heavy construction equipment, works in or around crowds, has exposure to potentially vicious animals, has exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy weather conditions, has exposure to traffic, and has exposure to hazardous driving conditions. Note: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered medium work.
