Position Summary:
The Construction Manager is responsible for construction and improvement projects in the gas transmission system. The Construction Manager identifies contract-worthy projects, consults on project feasibility and site details, coordinates with construction crews, oversees project inspectors, and performs construction oversight on a project-specific basis. The incumbent may also prepare job packages and estimates, conduct job walks, and meet with bidders, contractors, and governing agencies. The Construction Manager ensures projects are completed according to company standards.
This job is eligible to participate in PG&Es discretionary incentive compensation programs, engineering design, regulatory guidelines, permits, and schedule.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location within the PG&E Service Territory based on business need.
PG&E provides a salary range based on location and other factors. The estimated salary range for this role is:
Bay Area Minimum: $126,000
Bay Area Maximum: $200,000
Or for California:
Minimum Base Salary: $120,000
Maximum Base Salary: $190,000
Job Responsibilities:
Apply broad expertise to projects in civil, electrical, instrumentation, and pipeline construction management.
Collaborate with Project Managers and Gas Operation Supervisors to understand targets and identify projects.
Interpret drawings and data for RFP and contracts, renegotiate scope when needed, and clarify technical details during construction.
Lead job scope discussions, attend design reviews, and review IFC drawings with project teams.
Maintain communication and documentation with contractors and conduct site meetings.
Monitor daily construction activities, ensuring safety, quality, cost, and schedule goals are met.
Act as point of contact for contractors, ensuring resource adequacy and project flow.
Serve as Incident Commander and PG&E representative in the field, ensuring safety compliance.
Oversee inspection of construction work and coordinate field inspectors.
Address engineering and design issues, manage change orders, and verify test data and as-built documents.
Work with project managers to plan and schedule construction activities.
Mentor and train employees at various levels.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
7 years of experience in industrial engineering or construction.
Desired:
Safety experience.
9 years of experience in industrial engineering or construction.
Knowledge of carbon steel piping, welding processes, and standards used in Gas Transmission Construction.
Experience with Primavera P6, Unifier, Primavera Contracts Manager, Prolog, or similar tools.
Abilities in cost accounting, inspection, and contract administration.
Knowledge of Gas Transmission construction and welding standards.
Ability to perform cost and project scheduling.
