GFT is seeking a Construction Materials Coordinator to join our Transportation Team in Downtown Chicago, IL! Responsibilities What you'll be challenged to do: This candidate will be responsible for assisting the QA Management Team with various tasks for PCC, HMA, Aggregate, Soils and Miscellaneous Materials in accordance with established QA program requirements. The Materials Coordinator will schedule and coordinate daily material inspection duties for a large-scale Quality Assurance Program that consists of HMA, PCC, and aggregate/soil material placements. Tracking material inspection documentation, and inputting and validating information entered in a material inspection database. Duties will include creating and maintaining the QA inspection schedule, tracking Material Non-Conformance Reports, and other related tasks. The candidate must be highly motivated and is expected to have good communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as good organizational skills and a willingness to take on new challenges. The candidate should have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form. In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: Schedule and coordinate daily QA material inspection duties Tracking of material inspections, reports and Material Non-Compliance Reports The position requires effective and efficient coordination abilities in dealing with various inspection Sub-consultants, Consultant Resident Engineers, and Contractors The position requires strong coordination skills to effectively collaborate with project team and Local Agency QA personnel Assist on various tasks and materials coordination as directed Qualifications What you'll bring to our firm: Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members. Associate degree or minimum 5 years of construction/materials experience Familiar with IDOT’s Manual of Test Procedures for Materials and the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction Ability to effectively communicate with others Self-motivated, conscientious, and detail orientated Proficient with Microsoft Office suit What we prefer you bring: 6+ years of construction/materials experience Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management Experience working within a technical office or construction environment preferably in HMA, PCC, and aggregate material testing and inspection categories as related to roadway construction Certification in IDOT QC/QA HMA Level I and PCC Level I Experience on projects for IDOT, CDOT, ISTHA Local candidates Compensation: The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000.
