Construction Materials Testing Technician - Night Shift (Contract-to-Hire)

Location: Bloomington, MN

Pay: $23-25/hour

Schedule: Sunday-Thursday, 9:00 PM-5:00 AM

Contract Duration: Through Thanksgiving, with potential spring rehire

About the Role

Join a hands-on, fast-paced team where your work directly supports critical lab testing operations. No prior lab experience? No problem. We provide comprehensive training to get you up to speed. This is a great opportunity for individuals with a construction or mechanical background looking to transition into a technical role.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and organize incoming concrete, soil, and aggregate samples
• Prepare and test concrete cylinders and soil specimens (e.g., proctor tests)
• Operate lab equipment and maintain sample integrity
• Ensure tools and workspaces are clean and functional

What You Bring

• Experience using hand and power tools
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on your feet
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record

Bonus Skills (Not Required, But Valued)

• Experience in construction, landscaping, or prefab shop work
• Familiarity with inventory tracking and documentation
• Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving mindset
• Ability to obtain a Class B license within 90 days
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
