Construction Project Manager/ District 1/District Maintenance/Bartow Operations Center

In this position, you will oversee highway and infrastructure construction projects to ensure they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with all specifications and regulations. You will manage contractor performance, coordinate with consultants and utility agencies, monitor construction progress, resolve field issues, and maintain clear and accurate documentation. You will also supervise field staff and consultants, participate in project planning and reviews, and communicate with stakeholders to ensure project goals are met efficiently.

Your specific responsibilities include performing highly advanced engineering work on multiple major projects of high complexity, visiting construction projects regularly to review the progress of contract work and manage subordinate staff, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with all specifications and regulations, and ensuring that clear, accurate records are kept of all construction-related activities.

The successful candidate will have the following required knowledge, skills, and abilities: knowledge of concepts, terminology, principles, and analytical techniques of an engineering specialty area; skills in using engineering tools, equipment, and/or instruments; and the ability to analyze and interpret engineering data, plan, design, evaluate, and investigate engineering works and systems, apply engineering quantitative techniques, direct, monitor, and inspect engineering projects, solve problems relating to engineering, supervise people, determine work priorities, and communicate engineering information effectively.

This position requires certification in Final Estimates Level I, Final Estimates Level II, and QC (Quality Control) Manager through the Construction Training Qualification Program (CTQP) and Advanced Maintenance of Traffic. Must obtain within six (6) months and maintain thereafter. Other job-related requirements include driving a state-owned or leased vehicle, being responsive to emergency situations, adhering to the provisions and requirements of section 215.422, F.S., and maintaining an acceptable driving record.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or its equivalent, 2 years of experience in a related field, and a valid Class E driver license with an acceptable driving record.
