About this role Responsible for the oversight of small construction projects college-wide. Manages planning and construction of new facilities and major renovations to existing facilities. Researches and implements educational specifications for construction. Oversees contractors, consultants, and vendors to implement small-scale construction and deferred maintenance projects while maintaining the College's construction standards.
What a day of a Construction Project Manager looks like : Obtains permits, plans, and bid documents. Estimates project budgets, and prepares contracts, purchase orders, and various reports related to the construction, remodeling, renovation, and maintenance of College facilities.
Reviews construction, building, and life safety code requirements and ensures compliance with all safety standards.
Oversees administrative details, including consultant document reviews, contractor billings, building project budgets, and consultant and construction contracts.
Manages the activities of workers engaged in construction, installation, and repair of structures and fixtures for construction projects.
Plans, directs, and controls the work of people who do not report directly to you, but who provide support to the goals and objectives of your organization.
Monitors various projects to ensure maximum effectiveness and compliance.
Determines job costs, labor, and material needed, ensuring on-time deliveries.
Prepare and interpret drawings, graphs, maps, blueprints, bid documents, contracts, proposals, and specifications. Identify and resolve any blueprint issues prior to and during construction.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
We'd love to hear from you if you have the following:
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience in construction as a project manager, construction manager, or construction site supervisor
Four years of additional related experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree in accordance with 112.219 FS
Experience managing small commercial or institutional construction projects
Experience advertising, bidding, and awarding construction and trade contracts
Knowledge of: Contract process, documents, and preparation
Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications
Skilled in: Interpreting architecture and engineering construction documents
Project management analysis and design
Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management
Ability to: Interpret blueprints and related symbols
Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations, and take responsibility for a high level of service
Manage large-scale projects requiring the management of multiple responsibilities
Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements: Regular physical attendance required
Valid Florida driver's license
Preferred, but not a must :
Knowledge of: Bluebeam construction software
Google Sheets or similar application
Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements: OSHA 10 or 30 Authorization
Work Environment and Physical Demand: Lift, carry, push, pull, install or remove objects weighing 20 to 49 pounds
Reach and grasp objects
Stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Stand for extended periods of time
Use of video display terminal
Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills
Identify and distinguish colors and shades of color
Communicate information orally and in writing
Receive and understand information through oral and written communication
Proofread and check documents for accuracy
Work with equipment or perform procedures where carelessness may result in injury
Experience exposure to uncomfortable work environment due to extreme temperature, noise level, and other conditions
Risk for occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens
Operate motor vehicle

The minimum base pay range for this position starts at $56,359.00 - $61,994.90 annually; however, the offer may vary based on the candidate's education and experience.
