Construction Project Manager

The Construction Project Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Engineer Procure Construct (EPC) Project Manager or Program Manager by overseeing day-to-day operations from pre-construction through project completion and warranty periods. This position involves managing various aspects of the construction project, including safety, quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, subcontractors, suppliers, proposals, estimates, documentation turnover, and client relations. The role also includes promoting and managing the Safety & Health performance of project team members and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

1. Oversee day-to-day construction activities and ensure the successful execution of single or multiple projects simultaneously.
2. Participate in project planning, scheduling, estimating, cost development, and establish critical project objectives.
3. Develop new and manage existing client relationships while interfacing with clients for proposal and project-related items.
4. Negotiate prime contracts, CM contracts, subcontracts, and change orders.
5. Implement assigned sections of the Project Execution Plan, including construction execution and quality assurance plans.
6. Develop construction staffing plans, train project teams, and coordinate activities across multiple disciplines.
7. Verify all applicable project permits are secured according to project requirements.
8. Direct and oversee the downstream request for proposal (RFP) and bid process, prepare detailed scope of work documents for contracts.
9. Review, approve, and communicate internal and external project reports, including budgeting and cash flow forecasts.
10. Collaborate with engineering teams to manage downstream contract administration processes.
11. Oversee Prime Contract, subcontractor, and client contractor invoicing processes.
12. Coordinate and facilitate commissioning and startup teams as needed.
13. Implement, audit, and oversee project documentation processes.
14. Perform project safety, quality, progress, and financial audits and assessments.
15. Develop and oversee materials receiving and management processes.
16. Review contract documents with field staff to ensure compliance.
17. Direct project turnover documentation, warranty administration, and project closeout processes.
18. Support communication with governmental, industry, and public entities on project-related matters.
19. Provide mentorship and training to interns and assistant construction project managers.
20. Manage community and building trades relationships.
21. Develop and implement project labor agreements with building trades.
22. Manage composite crew rates and staffing on projects.
23. Estimate, forecast, and manage craft install unit rates.
24. Manage construction equipment inventory for project completion.
25. Comply with company policies and procedures.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor Degree in Construction, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of relevant project management experience in the construction industry related to energy or T&D.
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access).
• Experience with document control, scheduling, cost control, and project management software.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to handle large volumes of work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related degree from an accredited program.
• Multiple years of experience on construction project sites or executing program management in industries such as aviation, commercial, energy, government, manufacturing, oil & gas, process, transportation, transmission & distribution, or water is preferred.

Work Environment

This role is located onsite in the Minneapolis office, eligible for a 9/80 schedule but requires in-office presence. The candidate must be a resident of MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $58.00 - $75.00/hr.
