This is a full-time, Monday through Friday, (6 or 6:30 am to 2:30 or 3 pm), exempt position on-site at our client's location in Sacramento, CA. The position's primary duties include adhering to Site Safety Procedures, Cost Management, Constructability, and Quality Management. The incumbent will manage a team, including Work Planning and Scheduling, Construction Strategy and Contractor Management, Interface Management, Construction Completion and Management. The Construction Manager is expected to cover work related to construction and track work happening across the site via a two-week tracker. Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities
Adhere to Site Safety Procedures
Cost Management
Develop cost estimates for the construction scope of work to be performed
Estimates based on experience, actual estimates, bogey estimates, standard cost books, or lump sum bids by contractors
Constructability Provide Constructability input to early stages of Project Design
Participate in early design reviews from feasibility up to and through design/construction phases to drive best value for the client
Change Management
Field Instructions
Estimate costs in the field to facilitate timely decisions
Quality Management Obtain and manage data, logs, continuity tests, welding rod consumption... as required by site CWI & Environmental
Coordinate third-party QC testing as required for projects
Manage non-compliance issues pertaining to the quality system (and the client)
Document and track non-conforming quality issues
Work Planning & Scheduling Develop schedules at different levels for various stages of projects
Plan project activities into specific work packages
Ability to look at the overall site schedule and master plan for peak/non-peak workloads
Major construction
Contacting and sourcing appropriate vendors to support the client's operations in the event of a critical repair.
Develop, track, and communicate schedule status with detail as needed for the project
Possibly up to an hour-by-hour schedule for projects requiring plant shutdown
Effective communication of schedules and activities
Ability to effectively lead construction update meetings
Ability to manage resource conflict and prioritize work based on skills and requirements
Ensure subcontractors sufficiently manage and communicate construction schedules for subcontracted work
Construction Strategy and Contractor Management Ensure vendors & subcontractors get adequate information and documentation to execute the requested work
Complete Best Value Options Analysis (BVOA), criteria identified and weighted to help use data to select the best option
Interface Management Manage interfaces as needed pertaining to securing any required Construction permits. Works with site resources regarding Fire Protection, confined space, and other life-critical systems
Manages contractors in obtaining hot work permits, excavation permits, confined space permits, and lifting plans.
Integrate with site system owners to ensure construction is meeting site requirements
Systemic means for managing rental equipment as required, including managing sub-contractor rentals, and inventory in/out
Managing safety requirements on all rentals for the site (no substandard rentals)
Verification of inspections on all construction rentals
Tracking and management of field materials
Verification of consumption of field materials for accurate billing purposes
Maintain records for random auditing and inspections
Quality control system to inspect and verify materials as received
Inventory control system/capability
Construction Completion and Turnover Manage and facilitate the disposal of fixed assets from construction activities
Provide Construction Support and System Checkout Plan, Construction Completion and Turnover Procedure (Installation Qualification), and Construction Closeout/Documentation. All construction closeout documentation is bundled together for easy auditing/reference for future projects.
Ensure a signed turnover letter for each installation is signed by SCPO and the Project Manager, verifying that the intended scope of work is complete and to the satisfaction of the customer
Construction resources participate in the validation and inspection of the installation as requested
Works with the client to identify the critical completion tasks
Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Safety as it pertains to construction in a Chemical Site.
Knowledge of chemical industries, including pipefitting, millwrights, pressure vessels, concrete, and electrical systems.
Knowledge of the Sacramento Plan system is a plus.
Strong understanding of Cal/OSHA, OSHA, and EPA regulations and their applicability.
Strong organizational skills as well as exemplary written and verbal communication skills.
Strong computer aptitude, including fluency with MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook) and Adobe applications.
Education Bachelor's degree in a related field, preferred
Experience 6 + years of relevant work experience in the Construction Management field. Experience with chemical manufacturing plants, construction projects, manufacturing plant construction, remediation, or equivalent projects
Preferred Career Certifications OSHA 30-Hour Construction
OSHA Safety Certificate
Associate Constructor (AC)
Certified Professional Constructor (CPC)
Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
Construction Safety Management (CSM) - highly preferred
Wage: $95,000 to $120,000 annually, paid on a bi-weekly basis
