The Project Manager will report to the Chief Operations Manager and/or President of San Diego Master Craftsmen.
Job Overview
Join our growing team! This position supports and develops the daily operations of the company, including business development, project management, client relations, jobsite management, trade work, and general business operations. The role is home-based, requiring a motivated self-starter. Typical tasks may include working on bid proposals, contacting subcontractors, visiting job sites, performing cleanup, and managing trailers. The Project Manager is the most visible company representative and must uphold our values.
Responsibilities and Duties
Create and manage project schedules
Work on bid proposals and Excel spreadsheets
Oversee daily job site operations
Coordinate and supervise subcontractors
Perform trade work on job sites
Communicate daily with clients via job walks, emails, texts, and calls
Support management as needed
Handle material supplier relations, including pricing, specifications, ordering, and deliveries
Qualifications
Degree in construction management or five years of experience in construction
Proficient in Excel and Word
Ability to read blueprints and designs
Knowledge of trade work and building codes for residential construction
Strong understanding of foundation and framing
Ability to lift 100 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks, such as operating machinery, digging, grading, and loading/unloading materials
Ability to crawl under houses and through attics efficiently
Reliable, calm, critical thinker, quick learner, polite, honest, clean, able to follow instructions, and work well with others
Job Details
40 hours/week, mostly weekdays; occasional weekend tasks
Salary: $65,000 - $85,000/year plus a $500/month health insurance stipend (total $71,000 - $91,000); based on experience and performance
20 days off per year, including holidays, vacation, and sick days; days off do not carry over
Gas for work-related driving provided via company credit card
Expectations
Expected to work 40 hours/week on average
Workdays start between 7-8 AM and end between 3-5 PM
Work begins at the job site or related location and ends when leaving the site or office
May clock in and out during the day if performing tasks in intervals
Legally mandated breaks are provided
Overtime requires management approval
Daily activities are reported to management
Must have a reliable personal vehicle; company vehicle is not provided
Responsible for bringing necessary tools to job sites
Will undergo extensive training to learn all aspects of construction
Planning ahead is essential due to periods of uncertainty
First-year employment is probationary and can be terminated at any time
Must maintain humility and composure, especially when dealing with upset clients or subcontractors; losing temper is grounds for termination
As a Christian-run company, employees are expected to embody biblical principles in attitude and work ethic
