Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Purchasing Manager to join our procurement team. The Purchasing Manager will lead and optimize procurement operations while providing direction for the estimating function within the company. The ideal candidate will be adept at sourcing construction materials, equipment, and vendors, obtaining quotes/bids, processing purchase orders, and maintaining accurate purchasing records. We are seeking a candidate who has a strong understanding of homebuilding terminology and material procurement processes. The Purchasing Manager will focus on strategic sourcing, and day-to-day procurement activities. This role requires strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills to ensure the company procures goods and services efficiently and cost-effectively.
Duties Responsibilities:
- Sources and evaluates potential suppliers and subcontractors based on price, quality, and reliability.
- Manages purchasing team members to ensure efficient procurement processes and adherence to company standards.
- Stays current with purchasing technology trends, oversees purchase and implementation as needed.
- Develop and manage strong relationships with vendors, distributors, and internal teams.
- Identify and implement procurement process improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
- Manages the full purchasing cycle, from planning and purchase orders to tracking inventory.
- Reviews and Processes purchase orders.
- Prepare and process purchase orders in accordance with company policies.
- Track orders and ensure timely delivery of materials to construction sites.
- Maintain and update purchasing records, supplier lists, and product databases.
- Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to resolve any order discrepancies, delays, or issues.
- Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to determine procurement needs.
- Assist in negotiating contracts and terms with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and quality standards.
- Provide strategic direction on estimating function.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel)
- Knowledge of BuilderTrend software is a plus
- Possesses strong negotiation, communication, research, analytical, organizational skills, and customer service experience.
- Strong knowledge of estimating and purchasing in residential homebuilding.
Education & Experience:
- 2-5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain roles within the homebuilding industry.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; a Bachelors degree in business, supply chain management, construction management, or a related field is a plus
Job Type: Full-time / On-Site
Schedule: Monday Friday, 8 a.m. 5 p.m.
Compensation: 85k 95k
