Summary Our client is a leading multifamily commercial construction general contractor located in San Diego, CA (Mission Valley area) . They handle projects in various suburban areas around the metropolitan area of San Diego, including Mission Valley, Hillcrest, North Park, Kensington, and Little Italy. This organization is in growth mode and is in immediate need of an experienced Senior Superintendent . This individual will oversee day-to-day field operations, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. Responsibilities include implementing project plans and schedules, maintaining safety and quality standards, and delegating work to field staff and subcontractors. Duties & Responsibilities Oversee and manage operations in the field across multiple projects simultaneously. Implement and oversee a safety program that ensures a safe work environment, meeting or exceeding company safety goals, and fostering a safety culture at all levels. Ensure project materials are supplied and work complies with the Project Quality Program or equivalent standards. Ensure projects are built according to approved plans, specifications, design drawings, and applicable codes, maintaining high-quality standards. Develop, maintain, and drive the construction schedule in collaboration with the project team; ensure milestones and completion dates are met. Update the schedule daily . Coordinate with the project team to issue purchase orders for materials and services, and confirm receipt of materials and return of equipment. Maintain inventory logs and manage the distribution of materials to company personnel. Supervise field employees and subcontractors, ensuring work is planned and executed efficiently, and that time and production sheets are accurately recorded. Supervise subcontractors to meet project deliverables. Mentor project team members to support their development and career growth. Lead project meetings with internal and external stakeholders to monitor progress. Maintain a detailed daily log of site progress, events, inspections, and relevant information. Hold weekly safety meetings and job discussions. Conduct weekly safety inspections. Prepare and distribute weekly progress reports by Friday. Build credibility with owners and trade contractors by maintaining a fair and trustworthy environment. Review details with architects and subcontractors to ensure work complies with plans. Review vendor drawings and submittals. Promote a culture of quality that recognizes its importance in all operations, ensuring pride in the product and customer satisfaction. Authorize and approve supervision personnel transactions in conjunction with project managers to ensure proper staffing. Participate in or lead project planning, fostering creative and innovative solutions, and developing work plans. Coordinate with all work teams, including subcontractors, to resolve issues and support project objectives. Mentor construction craft, supervision, and engineering staff to ensure standards are met. Qualifications & Requirements Supportive team player. Think strategically, considering long-term implications and continuous performance improvement. 8-10 years of experience, minimum, with ground-up multifamily and hotel construction in a supervisory role. Ability to read and understand specifications for all trades; prior experience as a foreman or journeyman. OSHA 10-hour training or equivalent. CPR and First Aid certification. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Project. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Procore. Experience with BIM, LEAN, and LEED practices is a plus. Proficiency in digital images management. Strong organizational skills, flexibility, and prioritization abilities. Extreme attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work outdoors year-round in various weather conditions. Willingness to work extended hours as needed. Ability to travel across construction sites during all project phases. Hearing and visual capabilities to handle site hazards safely. Physical ability to lift heavy objects and climb ladders.
