The Construction Superintendent reports to the Site Construction Manager or Field Construction Manager assigned to a construction jobsite. This person will be in a front-line supervisory leadership position for CTCIA, with direct daily oversight, supervision and coordination of subcontractor managers and superintendent level positions.
*About the Role*
This role involves developing a professional, respectful, and trusting relationship with clients, CMT members, subcontractors, and vendors while maintaining a productive work environment through effective planning, scheduling, coordination, problem solving, drawing interpretation, with safe and quality installation.
*Responsibilities*
* Liaison between subcontractors and all other appropriate CMT parties. * Lead safety observation, pre-task planning, and all site safety process expectations. * Ensure all subcontractors follow the same requirements. * Ensure security processes are followed. * Provide daily coordination between CMT and Client. * Assist as required by engineering, with information regarding requested details or existing conditions to complete engineering or scope definition for those portions of work that affect their assigned area, discipline, function, or subcontractor responsibilities. * Assist as required by engineering with developing tie-in or demolition scope of work packages. * Coordinate and ensure sign-offs needed from the client are complete. * Assist with ensuring subcontractors have the correct drawings, specifications, and other pertinent information for Construction Superintendents area of responsibility. * Assist and expedite technical queries and any other information required by subcontractor for proper installation of work. * Generate proper documentation to field engineering for changes in scope drawing, out of scope work or unknown scopes of work for determination if change order requests are needed. * For approved change order scopes ensure subcontractors have proper tracking on timesheets or other work tracking tools. * Ensure delays and changes in work sequence are identified, documented, and tracked. * Verify subcontractor’s work is installed and documented properly in accordance with drawings, specifications, and scope of work definition. * Coordinate with QA/QC for required inspections. * Ensure proper turnover requirements are followed, sign off as required in turnover process. * Work with project controls to ensure proper sequence of work for level 3 baseline schedule. * Collaborate with subcontractors to ensure proper knowledge transfer of developed work sequence logic. * Ensure proper sequencing of work for subcontractor detailed schedule. * Work with project controls to develop workforce plan requirements to ensure effective workflow and continuity of work for subcontractor designated work. * Monitor subcontractor actual man loading to ensure effective planning and planned performance. * Collect, present, and maintain documentation generated by subcontractors as required to satisfy CMT Project Control requirements to include progress reporting, validation of daily timesheets, proper work classification, and tracking of equipment. * Prepare as required subcontractor weekly meeting reports and participate to review safety, technical, quality, schedule, changes, technical queries, and commercial issues. * Maintain a daily log of subcontractor’s activities, performance problems, manpower and equipment. Include in daily log directives, commitments, actions required or assigned, any pertinent information affecting your work area or responsibility by CMT leaders or Client.
*Qualifications*
* 5-10 years’ relevant work experience. * Must Have front line experience as a superintendent working in advanced technology building fabrication and all associated CSA/MEP systems to include but not limited to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, piping, structural, concrete and clean room type applications. * Experience with greenfield builds and tenant improvement/fit-out type projects with a strong working knowledge of MEP systems.
