Construction Superintendent The Construction Job Site Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all daily operations on the construction site, ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards. Location: Saint Charles, IL Schedule: Monday-Friday - 8 am - 5 pm Salary: $80-$110k
Duties:
1. Site Operations & Supervision
Be on-site by 6:30 AM to ensure all personnel have access as needed; lock up the site at the end of the day.
Supervise daily construction activities, ensuring efficient workflows and adherence to project plans.
Manage subcontractors, vendors, and on-site workers.
Ensure materials are staged appropriately to prevent delays or coordination issues.
Monitor and enforce site cleanliness, safety, and overall order.
2. Safety & Compliance
Enforce OSHA and company safety protocols and ensure consistent use of PPE.
Conduct safety meetings, walkthroughs, and audits to maintain a safe job site.
Confirm appropriate safety signage is visible and maintained throughout the site.
3. Project Coordination & Scheduling
Coordinate and schedule daily and weekly work activities with subcontractors and suppliers.
Monitor progress and adjust work plans to meet deadlines.
Develop and distribute two-week look-ahead schedules to the project team and subcontractors.
Assist in managing and updating the master schedule created by the project team.
Coordinate deliveries to align with project progress and avoid delays.
4. Quality Control
Inspect ongoing work to ensure compliance with project specifications, plans, and contracts.
Verify that all materials on-site meet approved submittals and specifications.
Conduct quality assurance reviews and address issues promptly with the appropriate parties.
Collaborate with engineers and project managers to resolve quality-related concerns.
5. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate and detailed daily logs, including labor hours, tasks completed, materials used, and equipment on-site.
Submit daily reports with descriptive content and accompanying photos.
Complete safety reports, delivery logs, and other documentation in line with company and legal standards.
Ensure thorough recordkeeping and compliance with all contractual documentation requirements.
6. Budget & Cost Management
Assist in cost control by reviewing change orders and supporting the buyout process.
Track labor and material costs and report discrepancies or risks to the project manager.
Participate in cost estimation and budget tracking when applicable.
7. Problem Solving & Conflict Resolution
Address site conflicts or delays swiftly and effectively.
Submit and follow up on RFIs to appropriate design team members.
Collaborate with project management to resolve unforeseen issues or design changes.
8. Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration
Act as the liaison between clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
Attend and contribute to regular project and subcontractor meetings (e.g., AOC Meetings).
Communicate updates and site concerns clearly and promptly.
9. Leadership & Team Development
Foster a positive, team-oriented culture on-site.
Promote professionalism, accountability, and collaboration among workers and trades.
10. Environmental & Legal Compliance
Ensure compliance with all environmental permits and regulations.
Coordinate with local authorities for inspections and ensure required documentation is in place.
