Summary: HJD Capital is seeking a skilled Construction Superintendent to oversee day-to-day field operations on commercial construction sites throughout San Antonio. In this key leadership role, you'll coordinate on-site activities, supervise subcontractors and crews, and ensure that projects are completed safely, on time, and in accordance with plans, specifications, and quality standards. The ideal candidate brings hands-on construction knowledge, strong organizational skills, and a proactive leadership style to keep projects moving efficiently.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Direct supervision of tradespeople, laborers, subcontractors, and site forepersons
Assigns daily tasks and provides guidance to field personnel
Monitors worksite performance and enforces safety and quality compliance
Duties/Responsibilities:
Develops and maintains the daily and weekly field schedules for assigned projects
Coordinates and communicates effectively with subcontractors, field crews, and project managers
Tracks material inventory and submits requests to ensure timely delivery
Oversees on-site work to ensure it meets design specifications, building codes, and safety regulations
Conducts routine job site inspections for quality assurance and progress monitoring
Facilitates permit acquisition and schedules required inspections
Maintains accurate daily field reports, including manpower, site activities, and incidents
Works closely with the Project Manager to manage budgets and track costs
Quickly addresses field issues and safety concerns, implementing corrective actions as needed
Communicates with clients, owners, and architects, providing regular updates and progress reports
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications: Required Skills & Abilities:
Strong understanding of construction processes, scheduling, and sequencing
Familiarity with local building codes and OSHA safety regulations
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and technical documents
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with CAD software a plus
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities
Education & Experience:
1-2 years of experience as a Construction Superintendent or comparable construction leadership role
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and other physical activity typical of construction sites
