The Construction Surveyor plays a critical role in the success of field operations, contributing to infrastructure and heavy civil projects across diverse environments.

The Role:
The Construction Surveyor is responsible for surveying and layout duties on heavy civil construction projects. This role requires coordination with preconstruction, project management, and engineering teams to ensure accurate site preparation and construction execution. Success in this role involves precise measurements, responsible equipment handling, and effective communication across departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform surveying and mapping duties for project layout, utilities, and as-built documentation using Trimble GPS and drone technology.

  • Establish and maintain control points and construction data for site crews.

  • Maintain GPS and surveying instruments to ensure data accuracy.

  • Verify construction measurements and calculations on-site.

  • Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to coordinate project survey requirements.

  • Ensure surveying practices comply with safety standards and project specifications.

  • Participate in special survey projects and construct GPS models when needed.

  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions to meet project timelines.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required; BS in Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or related field preferred.

  • Proven experience in construction surveying; drone and surveying licenses are a plus.

  • Proficient in Trimble GPS systems and AutoCAD.

  • Strong math, IT, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to interpret construction plans and conduct data analysis.

  • Physically capable of lifting 30–50 lbs and performing repetitive tasks outdoors.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience constructing GPS models.

  • Drone license and additional certifications.

Salary:
$50,000 - $130,000 per year

Location:
South Caroline

On-site role with outdoor work required in all weather conditions.
