We are seeking an experienced Construction Technician to join our team in our Sacramento, CA office. In this role, you will install, splice, and maintain fiber, coax, and copper cables for telecom infrastructure projects. This hands-on role involves cable pulling, conduit work, record-keeping, and operating specialized equipment while ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols.

The Role

  • Pull fiber/copper/coax cable through existing duct package, pull cable through conduit either manually, blowing, or mechanically
  • Splice coax and fiber
  • Lay cable, conduit and fiber innerduct
  • Keep detailed record of work activity
  • Unreel, pull and string wire and cable from pole to pole
  • Strictly adhere to the standard operating procedures and safety programs and enforce safety rules and procedures
  • Identify and clearly mark existing underground cables as directed
  • Operate, locate and bury drop equipment as required within areas of responsibility
  • Safely drive/maneuver vehicle and cable trailer in and around construction sites, parking lots, etc.
  • Travel to job sites when required
  • Other duties as required
Requirements:
  • 3-5+ years of experience in underground construction
  • Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather, at all times of the day or night and with all aspects of nature to include a variety of insects and plants
  • Comfortable working near power lines and electricity
  • Must maintain regular attendance and arrive to work on time
  • Possess an enthusiastic, energetic, self-motivated, and detail-oriented approach towards work and all work projects
  • Apply personal ethics, honesty, initiative, flexibility, responsibility and confidentiality in all areas of responsibility
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Possess knowledge of procedures and equipment to Identify and clearly mark existing underground cables as directed
  • Ability to safely use weight-bearing equipment (safety harness and ladders) within the maximum weight limitations of the equipment (Body Weight must not exceed 275 lbs.)
  • Ability to carry, climb, operate and work upon an extension ladder - (approximately 28 ft high and 75 pounds)
  • Ability to operate a variety of drop bury equipment
  • Ability to accurately measure distances, using tapes or other measuring devices
  • Must provide a valid government-issued photo ID for verification; a driver’s license is required if the role involves driving; Class A CDL required
  • Passing of all pre-employment requirements (MVR, Background Check, Drug Screen)
