This position is responsible for the construction, repair, remodel and/or maintenance of the hospital campus consistent with the Medical Center's strategies and objectives. Included: Assist the Security/Supervisor of Plant Facilities in meeting compliance with city, state, federal, NFPA and JCAHO regulations relating applicable codes. According to assignment, job responsibilities may include: demolition duties, repair/upkeep and remodel of existing structures, construction of new structures, and maintenance of interior surfaces (floors, walls, ceiling), preparing surfaces and applying floor tile, paint, varnish, vinyl or ceiling tile as appropriate in all areas of the hospital complex and off site locations of CRMC. According to assignment, may also include: installing, maintaining and repairing the lock/key system including: doors, locks, door locks, panic hardware, drug boxes, door closures, file cabinets, desks, lockers, etc. May coordinate specific construction projects of the campus including HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems and assist in the development, implementation and modification of specific construction projects if assigned. Performs boiler watch and safety surveillance Maintains complete safety records. Maintains excellent working relationships with other hospital departments. Supports and carries out the hospital policies and procedures.
Education
High School Diploma Required
Additional Education Requirements
Contractor’s license preferred.
Additional Experience Requirements
Three years previous experience in building trades required.
Basic knowledge of construction codes required.
Must have good working knowledge of current city, state, federal, NFPA and JCAHO regulations relating applicable codes.
Must read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manufacturer’s manuals, troubleshooting charts and procedures.
Must possess the ability to work with weights and measures (add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using numbers, common fractions and decimals.)
Must have good working knowledge of current city, state, federal, NFPA and TJC regulations relating applicable codes.
