Summary:
The Corporate Director, Construction & Project Management represents Ballad Health and its' community of businesses in capital improvement projects; including new development, facility and equipment planning, facility expansion, renovation and retrofitting. This position directs, plans, leads, coordinates, monitors, prepares reports and reports on design and construction activities. The Director sets the course in administering consultant and construction agreements. This leader will facilitate quality control, maintenance of design and construction schedules, construction management, and owner representative responsibilities while ensuring compliance to regulatory and code mandates. Additionally, this role acts as a liaison between Ballad Health hospital leadership, department heads, and corporate, as well as between Ballad Health and external vendors and contractors. The Director will manage the project delivery team of professionals to ensure the coordinated expertise, standardized tools, and project management advice meet the needs of the organization and each business owner. The Director will develop and provide critical information necessary to properly define scope of projects, budgets, and schedules to meet the demands of the organization.
The Director will lead the development of system design standards, as well as the pre-qualifications of various external consultants and contractors, monitoring performance, making adjustments as required. This leader will lead planning efforts of campuses and facilities, along with space allocation and programming. Additionally, the incumbent is required to propose and review state-of-the-art solutions that provide service efficiencies that positively impact operations in acute medical, non-acute medical and administrative environments. The Director has primary responsibility for the development and implementation of design processes and policies related to construction and project management necessary to monitor and control cost, quality and system standardization for hospital capital projects.
The Director will provide direction and oversight of internal and external projects and related budgets and schedules. This individual will effectively control capital budgets managed by direct reports. As part of the department of Facilities and Construction Management staff, this position supports the successful budgeting and implementation of multiple concurrent non-threshold and threshold capital projects through leadership in planning/programming, design, approval, construction, commissioning, occupancy, use, and operations. The individual will functionally manage internal and external consultants, architects, engineers, and design consultants, as well as other consultants related to Ballad Health projects.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or other related field, Master's degree preferred. In lieu of degree, equivalent professional experience in the design and construction of hospitals and medical clinics. Minimum five to eight years Project Management experience with construction projects of increasing complexity. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills in the delivery of healthcare facilities, including medical office buildings, acute care general hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, and psychiatric hospitals from program to successful construction completion.

Must have been responsible for the deliver of major projects exceeding $20M construction cost and of significant complexity in at least two of the above four categories.

Must be familiar with healthcare construction building codes and regulations, space programming and allocation cost analysis, discretionary approval processes, construction means and methods, construction processes and procedures and contract implementation. Must be familiar with the State of Tennessee building approval processes, including the State Fire Marshall and municipal discretionary approvals and Joint Commission regulations. Must have expertise in Project Management techniques and software. Must be proficient with Microsoft Project, Word, and Excel.
