Director of Project Management Operations - Electrical Construction

Job Summary:
This role is an internal guru who has oversight on all large construction projects. The Director of Construction will provide guidance to Operations Management and provide feedback to VP of Finance/President on financial impacts or project concerns.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Attend monthly forecasting meetings to review project schedules and financials.
Review construction contracts and make recommendations to operations managers based on contract requirements for the project.
Visit construction sites to audit work in progress and compare cost to complete information provided from project management.
Internal mentor for management when there are schedule changes/delays. Will provide advice on change orders, letter notification to General Contractors etc.
Will engage legal when needed (contract breaches, delay letters .
Provide regular feedback to President and VP of Finance on status of large construction projects. Particularly if there are difficulties (ex: schedule delay, installation difficulties, scope of work changes).
Act as senior Company liaison for interface with customer representative(s) as needed.
Create, develop and implement processes in regard to Project Managers.
Other responsibilities as assigned.

Must be proficient in project life cycle and General Contractor management

Must possess proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s).
Must have proven high skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting and quality requirements.
Must participate as a member of the Strategic Management team and Branch or Regional Sales/Operations Team.
Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to develop branch and job processes and best practices
Must able to travel within branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
Must possess the ability to learn Company and customer project management systems.
Regular attendance is mandatory.
Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:
Must have experience in customer interface, such as liaison between the customer and the Company.
Must possess a minimum of seven (7) years of supervisory or managerial experience on large ELECTRICAL construction projects (managed 5 million plus in scope of work).
Must have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in ELECTRICAL construction field.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and MS Project).
Must meet Company minimum driving standards.
Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
Must have demonstrated verifiable ability to define a project, create a project scope of work, develop detailed associated tasks and manage these to final completion and customer turnover.
