Equipment Operator - Construction (Travel Required)

Job Description
MNL, a leader in ecological restoration, has an opening for an Equipment Operator to join our Construction Department. The Equipment Operator is responsible for running equipment on small to large scale ecological restoration projects throughout the state of Minnesota and the Midwest. Requires strong equipment operation and communication skills to ensure safe and accurate project completion. Must be able to travel up to 75% of the time.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts tasks involved with successfully installing small to large scale restoration projects, including but not limited to grading, site preparation, seeding, planting, erosion control, and forestry.
- Completes a variety of restoration duties, utilizing large equipment such as dozers, excavators, off road trucks, scrapers, forestry equipment, etc.
- Completes a variety of restoration duties utilizing various types of smaller equipment, such as tractors, skid loaders, 3pt implements, ATV/UTVs.
- Maintains and adheres to all out of state work requirements.
- Communicates daily job tasks to field staff.
- Assists with hauling equipment as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned, which may include non-operating duties.
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience working in landscaping, agriculture, or construction.
- Strong ability to follow directions from project leaders regarding site work expectations.
- Ability to work independently, as well as in a group.
- Experience with the safe operation and general maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Ability to read and navigate maps, project plans, and specifications as well as accurately follow directions.
- Must have or be willing to acquire within the first 3 months with company assistance, a class A CDL driver's license with air brake and tanker endorsements.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer knowledge, including proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 preferred.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, reach, and move as needed in order to complete various installation duties.
- Prolonged periods of time standing or sitting.
- Able to work long hours, including early mornings, late evenings, and occasional weekends; work hours may be reduced during the winter season.
- Must be able to work in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and extreme cold.
- Overnight travel, within state and other states, up to 75% of the time; includes per diem payments for lodging and food.
