Estimator For Federal Government Construction

My client is a General Contractor based in the Columbia, and Bowie MD area who is looking for someone to work on government projects. They have specialized in private and government markets for over 25 years and have an extensive pipeline of projects going forward. Their average projects cost is $50M+ and average project size is 80,000 sq ft. They provide an extremely comprehensive benefits package and provide annual bonuses up to 20%.

Job Responsibilities

Develop and prepare conceptual estimates with minimal subcontractor assistance using limited preliminary design documents/information.

Develop subcontract interest in projects and manage the subcontractor RFP process.

Itemize trade specific scopes and prepare bid packages.

Review and edit the bid or RFP content, check for errors, omissions, or inconsistencies, and ensure that the bid follows the client's specifications and guidelines

Identify and address any risks, opportunities, or gaps in the bid, and provide recommendations and solutions

Build and maintain positive relationships with the client and any external partners, and manage any conflicts or feedback

Responsible for deciding the projected time frame needed to complete a project and additional factors such as labor needs, materials, budgets, and potential setbacks

Compile reports and make presentations to project leaders outlining their suggestions for upcoming projects

Estimate new and retrofit construction measures for projects

Review plans and specifications to address RFIs and address conflicts

Procure LEED specifications on various products to ensure compliance with customer preference

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate will have a HS diploma or equivalent, bachelors degree a plus.

Must have at least 5 years' experience in related field, preferably in construction.

Must be willing to apply for a security clearance.

Top Secret Clearance - preferred

Proven track record of successfully estimating and managing projects ranging from $5 million to $50 million in value.

Extensive knowledge of commercial construction practices, materials, and methods.

Proficiency in industry-standard estimating software - bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite.

Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with exceptional attention to detail.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting strict deadlines.

Professional certifications (e.g., CPE, CDT, LEED) are a plus.
