Description: The Estimator/Submittal Processor is responsible for preparing cost estimates for construction projects and managing the submittal process to ensure all materials, products, and equipment comply with project specifications. This dual-role position bridges the pre-construction and project execution phases, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimating:
Review drawings, specifications, and related documents to develop accurate project estimates.
Solicit and analyze bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
Perform take-offs and quantity surveys for various trades.
Prepare detailed cost breakdowns, scopes of work, and bid proposals.
Maintain historical cost data and unit price databases.
Assist in value engineering and constructability reviews.
Support project managers in budget development and cost tracking.
Submittal Processing:
Review project specifications to identify required submittals.
Prepare and submit product data, shop drawings, and samples to architects/engineers for review.
Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to gather required documentation.
Track submittal status and approvals
Ensure submittals are reviewed and approved in accordance with construction schedules.
Maintain organized records of all submitted and approved documents.
Communicate with the project team to distribute approved submittals to the field.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience accepted.
2–5 years of experience in construction estimating and/or project submittals.
Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
