Job Overview S. Thomas Construction, LLC is seeking a skilled and motivated Heavy Construction Equipment Mechanic to join our growing team in Houston, TX. This full-time role offers the opportunity to work both in our shop and out in the field, maintaining and repairing a wide range of essential construction equipment. Key Responsibilities- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on heavy equipment- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and routine inspections- Troubleshoot field equipment and complete emergency repairs on job sites- Maintain detailed service logs, repair reports, and parts usage documentation- Collaborate with shop managers and field supervisors to prioritize equipment needs- Ensure a clean, safe, and organized workspace in both the shop and field environments

Preferred Equipment Experience- Caterpillar- John Deere- Komatsu- Daewoo- Volvo- Sany- Other major heavy equipment brands

Qualifications- 2+ years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic (preferred)- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)- Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical repair skills- Basic welding experience a plus- Valid driver's license (required)- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in outdoor conditions- Strong attention to safety and detail
