The VP of Construction is responsible for managing all construction efforts statewide within a production homebuilding company. The VP reports directly to the President of Homebuilding. This role requires a minimum of 10 years in production homebuilding and is based in Dallas. Tasks Internal Operations Define, implement, and continuously improve construction processes focusing on operational success and customer satisfaction. Provide strong day-to-day leadership to the construction team. Develop, monitor, and manage the company's construction budget, including EPO spend and department overhead. Establish and monitor construction schedules to ensure adherence. Meet and exceed performance metrics, operational, and financial goals set in the annual budget. Lead, manage, and hold the construction team accountable for achieving schedule, safety, and quality standards. Ensure procedures and processes are consistent across the organization and aligned with the company's vision. Investigate and introduce process improvements continuously. Promote collaboration across all functional areas of the business. Manage subordinate management teams, optimizing core competencies and skill sets. Develop and oversee the implementation of short- and long-term operational plans and strategies. Provide strategic guidance and advice to the construction team. Assist in developing and executing the annual business plan, seeking operational improvements. Participate in proposal development and oversee strategies to drive cost and product performance. Apply root cause analysis and conduct detailed monthly reviews based on key metrics to ensure steady operational improvements. Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring effective, metric-driven performance. Leadership Manage construction and customer care departments. Ensure employees have clear goals and direction. Coach and mentor staff. Ensure completion of outcomes and deliverables. Set policies and procedures as needed. Ensure organizational compliance and reduce financial risks. Build and promote relationships with developers. Encourage safe working practices and promote job safety. Handle conflict resolution effectively among employees, trade contractors, and suppliers. Oversee the permit process and other managerial duties. Knowledge Proven track record in operational excellence and continuous improvement. Strong background in all aspects of operations. Exceptional leadership and decision-making skills. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and BRIX/Build Pro. Skills & Abilities Strong analysis and problem-solving skills. Results-oriented and self-motivated. Organized with a systematic approach. Excellent interpersonal skills. Confident, assertive, and ethical. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Effective time management. Experience with BuildPro scheduling. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree required. Minimum 10 years in increasing construction responsibilities. Minimum 10 years in leadership roles.
