Junior Construction Accountant
Our client, a large residential real-estate investor and developer with a national presence, is seeking a Junior Construction Accountant to join the team. This newly created role will work closely with the Asset Management department to aid in monitoring the financials of renovation projects. The successful candidate will be valued contributor to the accounting team by keeping financial oversight of construction jobs, while liaising with the firm's Asset Managers. We are seeking an individual who thrives in a hybrid work environment in a casual, yet collegiate environment.
This position is a Hybrid role that can sit in NYC, Denver, Kansas City, LA or Dallas.
Responsibilities
- Oversight of job cost accounting functions
- Review and analysis of capital expenditure activity
- Coordinate with property accounting staffs to identify and correct errors in monthly financial reporting packages
- Assistant in production of quarterly investor reporting
- Prepare and communicate various data analytics
- Design and edit financial information templates
- Track and monitor renovation projects budgets and contracts on an ongoing basis
- Assist with contract preparation and workflow.
- Initiate draw requests when necessary from lender-held reserve or escrow accounts
- Provide audit support, including preparation of detailed financial information packages
- Produce schedules/analyses on an ad hoc basis from company financial data
- Create and implement control procedures related to expense coding
- Participate in due diligence reviews of new investment opportunities
- Assist in other projects as needed
Qualifications/Requirements
- Undergraduate degree and 1-4yrs experience in real estate accounting
- Construction Manager or Construction Coordinator background preferred
- Familiarity with Realpage (or Intacct) Accounting, Procore, and/or Banner accounting management systems
- Advanced Microsoft Excel experience, strong financial analysis skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and PowerPoint
- Hard worker & team player - no task too small. Getting the job done and exceeding expectations is the key to integrating successfully into our team
- Ability to communicate clearly on financial information and projections
Compensation range is between $90,000 - $115,000
