Key Responsibilities:
The On-Site Mechanical Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the mechanical aspects of construction projects at the job site. This includes supervision of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and fire protection installations to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety regulations, schedules, and quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a deep understanding of mechanical systems and construction practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily mechanical construction activities, including subcontractors and in-house crews.
- Interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and schedules to ensure proper installation and sequencing.
- Monitor field operations to ensure compliance with safety protocols, quality standards, and project timelines.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other trades to resolve site issues and avoid delays.
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality control checks on HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical systems.
- Maintain daily logs of site activities, manpower, materials, and equipment.
- Assist in reviewing and verifying mechanical change orders and progress billings.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of mechanical tools and equipment.
- Attend site meetings and provide progress updates to the project team.
- Enforce all site safety regulations and report incidents or unsafe conditions promptly.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical construction, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical codes, HVAC systems, plumbing, and industrial piping.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- OSHA 10 and/or 30 certification preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding site environment.
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
- 100% on-site presence required.
- Work is primarily outdoors in a construction site environment with exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and potential hazards.
- Requires use of PPE (personal protective equipment) at all times on-site.
