OSP Field Construction/Project Manager - Lynchburg, Roanoke, Richmond, Williamsburg, Suffolk and/or Farmville, VA areas
We are seeking a skilled OSP Field Construction/ Project Manager with strong computer skills to assist building our client’s Fiber to the Home Network.
This role will involve Field work, Vendor management as well as Construction Project Management
You must be comfortable with Field site walkouts in addition to managing capital projects, municipal personnel, utility owners, and GC’s and other vendors.
Basically you will be our clients “Go to” person to make sure the OSP build goes smoothly.
We are looking for someone in the Lynchburg, Roanoke, Richmond, Williamsburg, Suffolk and/or Farmville, VA areas
This is a contract positions that will likely go into 2026. You should be local to the local region as you will be required to make regular field visits to help resolve any issues needed. Mileage is paid a Gov’t rate.
Pay: $40-$45/hr. DoE plus mileage
Role: Direct supervision of construction of facility upgrades (Aerial & UG) and additions throughout the assigned region. Ensure cost-effective OSP site development and appropriate contract administration. Confirm as-built and initial system performance specifications3. Vendor punch-list management. Plan and schedule work with contractors, department of transportation, landowners, and public utilities. Order materials for the department; coordinate and supervise material inventory activities. Observe all company safety procedures at all times. Develop cost estimates for construction and implementation of all services to be provided. Work effectively with other Shentel departments and coordinate cross-departmental activity. Responsible for following, supporting, and enforcing all internal control processes and procedures. Capable of managing large in scope or multiple projects.
What will catch our eye: Experience in MS Word, Excel, and Project Management software (Sitetracker, Smartsheet). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. General understanding of data networking, including design, troubleshooting, and configuration of various wired and wireless network topologies, CATV systems, and coaxial design and construction. Excellent organization and documentation skills. Project and/or Construction management certification(s) preferred. Available to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as the needs of the business require. Ability to travel for training or as required. Ability to work independently, work with teams, and communicate effectively. Proficiency in working with Smartsheets, Oracle, Site Tracker, and Render or like databases is essential for this role. Candidates should have hands-on experience managing projects, tracking data, and analyzing metrics within these platforms to streamline workflows, ensure data accuracy, and enhance overall project efficiency. Damage and Complaint Resolution: Address homeowner complaints, log issues, ensure a positive homeowner experience, and collaborate with construction personnel to resolve problems promptly and satisfactorily. Coordination with Municipal and Utility Personnel: Meet with municipal personnel, utility owners, locators, and railroads to address reported issues and coordinate special projects such as road and railroad crossings. Homeowner Communication: Provide homeowners with project details and updates. Post-Construction Cleanup: Collaborate with PMs and contracted construction personnel to resolve cleanup items and close permits. Inspections: Conduct additional inspections of completed or in-process projects, work with field technicians and PMs to ensure quality and address substandard practices. Ability to perform frequent fieldwork and willingness to be local to the respective area. Proficiency in with QA/QC coordinating and resolving issues in a timely manner.
