General Responsibilities:
As a Project Engineer you will provide engineering and consulting services and project management for a Construction Material and Special Inspection projects and clients. This may include performing and/or leading engineering analysis, calculations, and recommendations, observation and inspection, and the writing, preparation, and review of related reports for the services provided. Review drawings and construction to assure compliance with plans and specifications. Prepare proposals and cost estimates, track and evaluate project progress, budgets, and recommend changes. Research and resolve design and construction problems. Assign, review, and evaluate laboratory or field data for inclusion in reports. Apply sound engineering principles and be able to communicate complex engineering issues and concepts to technical and non-technical clients and project teams. Services may be provided for existing or proposed projects in the multifamily residential, public works, transportation, commercial, communications, energy, and/or industrial sectors. Coordinates effort with the project manager to make sure that the project engineer (APR) has opportunity to engage throughout the project, particularly at critical junctures. Is involved with approving invoices, preparing change orders, and collections.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities: Manage all aspects of a small to medium sized projects.
Prepare proposals and reports for small and large projects of varying complexity.
Plan, schedule, conduct, and/or coordinate detailed phases of assigned project work.
Works with client or NAM to define project scope, schedule and budget.
Design, communicate, and implement a project plan for completing the project.
Take action to resolve operational problems and minimize delays.
Identify, develop, and gather the resources to complete the project. This may include preparing calculations, designs, reports and work specifications; developing project schedules, budgets and forecasts; and selecting materials, equipment, project staff, and external contractors.
Partner with other departments or offices to secure specialized resources for the project.
Conduct meetings and prepare reports to communicate the status of the project.
Set priorities, assign tasks, and coordinates project staff to meet project targets and milestones.
Coordinates with review engineer to ensure appropriate oversight is in place and sufficient time allowed for reviews of all critical junctures.
Coordinates with accounting for financial management of business intelligence, invoicing and collections
Participate in marketing, sales and business development.
Develop understanding and be aware of project-related risk. Be familiar with what could go wrong on a project and how to protect the Company. Be familiar with company risk policies.
Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines. Responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment; demonstrates safety practices. Promote pre-task planning for all projects.
Career level, fully competent engineering professional with responsibility for managing detailed phases of projects with moderate size and complexity.
Independently perform a variety projects or selected segments of larger projects.
Make design, engineering, and construction recommendations, adaptations and modifications.
Perform quality control review of proposals written by others.
Evaluate complex laboratory and field data for inclusion in reports.
Serve as a technical adviser to junior-level project team members.
Interact directly with client and project team on developing scope of services, communicating project progress and findings and recommendations.
Write and prepare routine and complex engineering reports detailing services provided, findings, and recommendations.
Supervise graduate, field and project engineering staff.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
Minimum 5-8 years’ experience.
Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
Preferred Certification: Master’s degree in Engineering

Terracon anticipates paying $87,100 to $120,000 within the salary range for this position.
