Job Summary
Project Managers serve as Dennis Groups primary client contact throughout the project delivery process, from design concept to bidding, construction, and start-up. Their main responsibility is to ensure each projects scope, cost, and schedule are successfully met. Our projects involve designing and building food and beverage process facilities (industrial projects). The project manager coordinates with design/architectural teams, multiple engineering teams, and construction teams within Dennis Group to ensure project success. The role involves providing project management and execution expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
Additionally, Project Managers play a vital role in our client relationship management program. They must possess the experience, skills, and character to support sales and marketing activities effectively. Success in this role requires excellent leadership, organization, and time management skills, as well as a technical background applied daily. Ideal candidates are professional, self-motivated, energetic, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Responsibilities
Work autonomously on specific tasks.
Possess sufficient expertise in both building and process systems.
Serve as the direct client contact and lead project manager on large projects.
Manage projects from planning through commissioning, developing success criteria, and ensuring their achievement.
Develop project scope, budget, schedule, and critical path elements.
Prepare RFIs and purchase/work authorizations.
Maintain the client SharePoint site.
Train and mentor junior project managers.
Propose new business to clients, including developing proposals and leading presentations.
Manage in-house and consulting design teams.
Establish design criteria; review design and construction documents.
Manage permits, code, and regulatory approvals.
Develop procurement strategies, including bid packages and subcontracts.
Evaluate potential project bidders.
Define kick-off meeting agendas and project deliverables.
Serve as the single point of contact for all project communication.
Develop project outline specifications and conceptual layouts.
Develop large engineering service proposals.
Manage the bid process and review bid packages.
Maintain lists of outstanding items and project notes.
Develop lessons learned and monthly reports.
Determine project permitting needs and update forecasting tools.
Review and approve engineering deliverables and invoices.
Create accurate project cost estimates for site, building, and production systems.
Define project assumptions/exclusions and approve proposals.
Organize construction trades and manage subcontracts.
Oversee equipment installations and on-site supervision.
Coordinate design team activities on-site.
Facilitate project planning sessions and update budgets.
Manage project punch-lists, records, and close-out documents.
Interface with clients and third-party reviews.
Utilize multiple software programs (MS Office, CAD, Navisworks, MS Project, SharePoint, etc.).
Research project management best practices.
Support talent growth and participate in interviewing candidates.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience
Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or Engineering.
At least 8 years of experience in a design-build environment with multiple engineering disciplines, architects, and designers.
Experience with MEP industrial construction projects, preferably in food and beverage or pharmaceutical sectors.
Experience in building construction, scheduling, estimating, and safety.
Proven track record as a Project Manager, delivering projects on time and meeting requirements.
Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and other design software.
Familiarity with sanitary environments is a plus.
Willingness to travel overnight at least 50%, typically 70-120 nights annually.
Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Attention to detail, accuracy, and meeting deadlines.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Occasional standing and walking on rough terrain at job sites.
Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
Travel Requirement
Must be able to travel extensively for project locations across the U.S. and Canada, including working at client facilities and construction sites, with at least 50% overnight travel.
