Project Manager Industrial Construction

Location:Cedar Rapids, IA

Client:Blahnik Construction | Industrial General Contractor

Were excited to partner with the owners of Blahnik Construction, a well-established industrial general contractor serving Eastern Iowa, in the search for a Project Manager to lead and coordinate a variety of industrial construction projects.


This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with field awareness, strong construction knowledge, and the ability to manage projects from pre-bid through closeout.


This is a direct opportunity to be part of an industrial construction team managing projects within an 80-mile radius of Cedar Rapids.

What Youll Do:

Project Oversight & Execution

  • Oversee industrial construction projects including steel, concrete, millwright, and masonry work
  • Manage subcontractors, vendors, materials, and equipment to keep projects on schedule and within scope
  • Coordinate closely with field crews to ensure safety, efficiency, and quality
  • Identify constructability challenges and work with the team to resolve them
  • Regularly visit job sites, including elevated or industrial access points (stairs, ladders)

Preconstruction & Estimating

  • Lead pre-bid activities, including scope development, estimating, and bidding
  • Attend pre-bid walk-throughs and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare and manage contracts, purchase orders, and change orders

Scheduling & Budget Oversight:

  • Develop, monitor, and adjust project schedules, proactively addressing long-lead items
  • Maintain budget adherence, track scope compliance, and meet insurance requirements
  • Handle owner billings, monthly cost reports, and financial risk assessments

Safety, Quality & Team Leadership

  • Enforce job-specific safety plans, conduct site audits, and implement hazard mitigation strategies
  • Conduct project risk assessments and recommend value engineering opportunities
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development to field teams

Who You Are

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in construction project management, preferably in industrial environments
  • Experience in union settings and business development is a plus
  • Self-motivated leader with strong business acumen and decision-making abilities
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams
  • Skilled in negotiation, conflict resolution, and communication
  • Ability to adapt to challenges, drive solutions, and maintain professionalism under pressure

Education & Technical Expertise:

  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
  • Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Proficiency in construction project tools such as Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Excel, etc.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn company-specific systems
