We are seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to support infrastructure projects in Southern California. This role involves performing contract compliance inspections on a variety of transportation and public works projects.
What are the core responsibilities for the role?
- Serve as the lead construction inspector on infrastructure projects under the direction of a Construction Manager
- Monitor and document daily contractor activities, including labor, equipment, and quantities for payment tracking
- Perform daily project documentation, including inspection reports, diaries, and photo logs
- Verify that materials and workmanship meet contract plans and specifications
- Coordinate with contractors to facilitate construction operations
- Inspect traffic control setups and general site conditions for safety and regulatory compliance
- Conduct field materials testing, including nuclear density testing and concrete testing (if certified)
- Communicate proactively with project teams, clients, and other stakeholders
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
- Minimum 5 years of construction inspection experience, preferably on transportation, roadway, or water/wastewater infrastructure projects
- Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.)
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and dependable work ethic
- Clean driving record and valid driver's license
- Willingness to travel to job sites throughout Southern California
- In-depth knowledge of civil infrastructure construction methods, materials and relevant local, state and federal codes.
Desirable Certifications
The following certifications are highly desirable but not required. While candidates possessing one or more will be viewed favorably during evaluation, those without these certifications will still be considered based on relevant experience and project background.
- California D1 Water Distribution or T1 Wastewater Treatment Operator
- Certified Public Infrastructure Inspector (CPII - APWA)
- ACI Grade I - Concrete Field Testing
- ICC Certifications: Reinforced Concrete, Soils Special Inspector
- QSP/QSD - Qualified SWPPP Practitioner / Developer
- ATSSA Traffic Control Technician (TCT) or Supervisor (TCS)
- OSHA 10 or 30-Hour Construction Safety Training
Work Hours
Core hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. However, flexibility is required, and work may include nights, weekends, or holidays depending on project needs.
