Insight Global is hiring a senior designer to join the largest utility provider in New York's Construction Public Improvement group on a 6-month contract basis.

This position has the potential to be extended or converted to a full-time position dependent on the needs of the group at the time. There is 20% travel required in the position between field sites within the 5 boroughs.

In this position, main communication will be among the city design team and the internal engineering group to collaborate on city proposals for municipal projects in NY. As new projects come in, designers will be responsible for field verification and collecting related data to utilize in AutoCAD for further processing and next steps. Other responsibilities may include performing field walks, interference analysis when comparing the proposed plan from the city with Con Edison's facilities for accuracy, and determining any related accommodation requests to minimize relocation of the facilities. The designers may be expected to handle multiple projects at once (dependent on size), participate in overhead condition reports, and DDC joint bid packaging.

To be successful in this position, excellent interpersonal/collaboration skills are required as well as clear oral and written communication.

Skills and Requirements

- 4+ years of experience in a similar role at a utility company

- Bachelors degree in Engineering

- Strong AutoCAD proficiency with creating and reviewing designs

- Familiar with NYC DOT and NYC DEP standards and regulations (highway, sewer and main)

- DDC joint bid specifications

- Previous experience with field verification and completing overhead condition reports

- Demonstrated experience supporting municipal projects in New York

- Comfortable traveling onsite, reliable transportation and a valid drivers license - Civil Engineering degree preferred

- Personal vehicle to travel to field sites null
