HPM is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our team based in Anchorage, AK. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for providing project team leadership and has overall and bottom-line responsibility for the success of the project. Additionally, the Sr PM is actively involved in prospective project lead generation, proposal preparation and presentation, and relationship maintenance. Must be capable of leading a $50+M project.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $165,000-185,000 annually plus cell phone allowance, vehicle allowance

Schedule: 8+ hour shifts, Monday to Friday, with evening and weekend availability as necessary.
Work Location: Anchorage, AK is main office, could be located at various project sites in Alaska.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or a related degree; or comparable work experience.
- 15+ years of experience in commercial, civil, and/or federal construction industry.
- OSHA 30 Certification
- USACE CQM Certification strongly preferred
Duties & Responsibilities:
Safety:
- Leads and drives the safety culture across multiple projects - leads by example
- Proactively places a high priority on safety at all times
- Ensures regularly scheduled jobsite safety audits are taking place on each project and makes safety a priority during each site visit
- Sets expectations with project leadership and holds them accountable for both safe behavior and maintaining a safe jobsite
Quality:
- Ensures that appropriate defect prevention, quality control, and quality assurance plans and procedures are in place on each project
- Periodically audits field operations to ensure compliance with quality program
- Ensures that root cause analyses are completed for all quality incidents and communicates lessons learned to project teams
Compliance:
- Verifies project teams are in full compliance with and administration of all project general contracts and subcontracts
- Verifies that permits are obtained as necessary to facilitate the project schedule, including building, fire, health, right-of-way, stormwater, etc.
- Verifies project teams are in full compliance with all company policies
Scheduling:
- Meets with project teams on a monthly basis (or more frequent as necessary) to review project schedule progress and identifies and addresses schedule issues and risks in a timely fashion so as not to impact schedule progress
- Verifies that the project schedule is maintained, updated, communicated, and implemented in accordance with HPM's commitment to the project, the owner, and trade partners
- Understands resource allocation to ensure projects are efficiently and effectively staffed through schedule management and understanding of all responsible projects
Project Administration:
- Steward of HPM's relationship with the client, as well as design professionals and trader partners, through the construction process.
- Verifies that project teams are completing project administrative tasks timely (e.g. RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement log, project engineering tasks, etc.) and is capable of performing these duties if necessary
- Maintains overall responsibility for the project through the warranty period and beyond as required
Cost Control:
- Thoroughly reviews the project estimate with the preconstruction team upon project award
- Ensures that project setup happens in accordance with HPM procedures
- Works with project teams to monitor and manage all costs and budgets for the duration of the project
- Overall responsibility for the month-end reporting process for all responsible projects
- Works with job team to identify risks to cost vs budget and develop plans to minimize job losses
Procurement/Tracking:
- Verifies that all subcontracts are executed in support of the project schedule
- Verifies that long lead materials are identified and incorporated in the project schedule
- Tracks project metrics relating to procurement (e.g. submittal status, long lead procurement, etc)
Field Execution:
- Ultimate responsibility that all responsible projects are built in accordance with the plan, specs, and schedule
- Make regular site visits to all responsible projects and engages with field personnel on a regular, consistent basis
- Works with project teams to ensure that proper resources are available (e.g. equipment, personnel, materials, etc.)
Contract Administration:
- Reads and is familiar with all construction and contract documents, and changes, including:
- Owner contract agreement and general conditions
- Plans, project manual, all specifications, and geotechnical reports
- Subcontracts and material contracts
- Works with project teams to ensure that changes to the contract are recognized and that processes are in place to track costs, facilitate resolution, and/or procure compensation for these changes
- Verifies that all changes are evaluated for their impact on project schedules and costs
- Understands and assists the job team through resolution of issues that are changes to the contract
- Actively negotiates larger issues with owner when necessary
- Teaches principles of subcontract writing and negotiation, and prepares complex subcontracts for execution
People Development:
- Provides direct management and oversight, timely performance evaluation and feedback, training, and career development support of direct reports including all field staff for responsible projects
- Provides senior level leadership to project teams, both internally and externally, beginning at the issuance of construction documents
- Ensures that mentorship and training are happening on all responsible projects in support of the succession plan for the company
- Recognizes and addresses challenges appropriately and timely for the overall health of the organization and maintenance of our established culture
