Schedule: Monday – Friday, 1st shift, Saturdays as needed
United Construction & Forestry is seeking a Service Writer responsible for assisting the Service Department with customer service needs, managing work orders, supporting pre-delivery of new equipment, overseeing repair and reconditioning of equipment, and managing shop and field service operations.
What You’ll Do
Advise customers on technical issues, schedule service needs, plan jobs, and specify instructions, while identifying customer and machine details
Assist with appraisals and quotes for repairs, coordinating with the Service Manager on parts and labor requirements
Schedule shop assignments, field service work, and transport of equipment
Process warranty claims
Establish and adjust work procedures to meet schedules and deadlines
Open and close work orders timely to meet company goals
Supervise shop activities in the absence of the Service Manager
Participate in company-sponsored training to enhance skills
Maintain positive relationships with colleagues and customers, emphasizing teamwork and customer service
Requirements
What it Takes
Proficiency with desktop applications like Microsoft Office and internet functions
Positive attitude
Excellent communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Customer service orientation
Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed
Preferred
1 year of experience in Service Department operations
Experience with John Deere Equipment
Education
High school diploma or GED
Physical Requirements
The physical demands include standing, sitting, talking, hearing, using hands for keyboard and phone operations, vision requirements, light to moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds), and the ability to reach, stoop, kneel, and bend.
