Overview:
This is an opportunity to join a well-established and safety-focused construction firm as a Superintendent within the Grading Division. The Superintendent will play a critical role in overseeing multiple field crews across various project sites throughout the Southeast. The Role:
The Superintendent is responsible for leading field operations across multiple active grading projects, ensuring safety, quality, and production goals are consistently met.
This individual will manage multiple Foremen and Lead Men, and work cross-functionally with Project Engineers, clients, and internal administrative staff. Success in this role involves maintaining compliance, meeting project deadlines, and fostering a high-performance team environment.
Responsibilities:
Supervise and support multiple field teams and ensure safe, efficient daily operations.
Coordinate project logistics including materials, equipment, schedules, and inspections.
Attend client and pre-construction meetings; maintain communication with engineers and owners.
Ensure MSHA/OSHA compliance and perform on-site safety and compliance inspections.
Oversee documentation, including fuel logs, load counts, timesheets, billing info, and material orders.
Provide training, mentorship, and support for new and existing team members.
Maintain erosion control compliance and site environmental standards.
Operate and maintain heavy equipment when necessary.
Requirements:
Proven experience leading construction field teams across multiple sites.
Proficiency in managing grading operations, equipment logistics, and jobsite compliance.
Knowledge of OSHA and MSHA regulations.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to operate a range of heavy equipment safely and effectively.
Valid driver’s license with a clean MVR (Motor Vehicle Record).
Willingness to travel regionally for multi-site management.
Nice to Have:
Familiarity with project billing processes and administrative reporting.
Previous experience in recruiting and onboarding field staff.
Salary:
$100,000 - $120,000 per year with bonus eligibility based on safety, performance, and project delivery benchmarks.
Location:
Field-based across the South Carolina U.S., with travel required between project sites.
