Job descriptionThe following information aims to provide potential candidates with a better understanding of the requirements for this role.Brookfield Utilities is looking for motivated Underground Construction Laborers with CDL license to support our fiber optic installation crews. This is an entry-level field position ideal for individuals eager to break into the underground utility or telecom construction trade and grow. You will work alongside experienced HDD Operators and Locators to install conduit, assist with drilling operations, and maintain a clean, safe job site. Dependable and driven crew members will have opportunities for promotion into operator or foreman roles.*Key Responsibilities**Field Support & Labor** Assist drill crews with daily setup, cleanup, and operational support.* Load and unload materials, tools, and conduit.* Perform potholing, hand digging, backfilling, and basic site restoration.* Place conduit, fiber, handholes, and other telecom infrastructure.*Equipment & Safety** Operate and assist with trenchers and mini excavators under supervision.* Maintain a safe and organized job site environment.* Help with traffic control and site safety measures.* Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.*Team Coordination** Communicate effectively with operators, locators, and crew leaders.* Take instruction from foreman, HDD operator, and project supervisors.* Represent the company professionally on the job site.*Qualifications**Experience** 1+ year of construction, or general labor preferred.* Previous experience in underground utilities or telecom is a plus.*Skills** Strong work ethic and willingness to learn new skills.* Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.* Good communication and ability to follow instructions.* Familiarity with hand tools and mechanical equipment.*Requirements** Must be drug-free and able to pass pre-employment and random screenings.* Must have reliable transportation to and from job sites.* Able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks.* Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.*Certifications and Licenses:** Valid driver’s license.* Valid *Commercial Driver's License (CDL)* required.*Preferred Qualifications** Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.Job Type: Full-timePay: $250.00 - $275.00 per dayBenefits:* 401(k)* 401(k) matching* Dental insurance* Health insurance* Paid time offSchedule:* 10 hour shift* Monday to FridayLicense/Certification:* CDL (Required)Work Location: In person
