The Role:
The Utility Foreman is responsible for leading crews on utility construction sites, ensuring that all safety, quality, and production goals are met. This role involves direct interaction with management and engineering to carry out project plans, manage equipment operations, and coordinate daily field activities. Success in this role is demonstrated by the ability to maintain project schedules, lead safely and effectively, and uphold high standards of workmanship and team morale.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with all regulations and procedures.

  • Interpret engineering plans and direct layout and fieldwork.

  • Guide crew members on daily tasks while promoting a safety-first environment.

  • Oversee site preparation, erosion control, and weather readiness.

  • Conduct safety meetings, equipment checks, and workplace inspections.

  • Maintain detailed daily logs for fuel, equipment use, and site conditions.

  • Monitor equipment storage, maintenance schedules, and inventory.

  • Perform minor emergency repairs and coordinate with management for equipment support.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in utility installation and heavy equipment operation.

  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and site preparation techniques.

  • Proficiency in GPS-based equipment and site layout practices.

  • Ability to lead teams and communicate effectively in English.

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record (no more than 3 moving violations in 3 years).

  • Ability to pass drug and alcohol screenings.

  • Capable of lifting 40 lbs and working in physically demanding conditions.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with water, sewer, and storm drainage installation techniques and testing.

  • Skills in rigging, grouting, and concrete/masonry procedures.

Salary:
$70,000 to $100,000 per year

Location:
South Carolina based
On-site role with outdoor work in varied weather conditions.
