Water Resources Group (WRG) provides services to a family of self-performing general contractors. With a commitment to quality and value, the company seeks a highly motivated and detail oriented VDC team member to join its growing VDC team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Revit and a passion for leveraging technology to improve construction efficiency and accuracy.
Primary Function: The VDC Specialist will have a strong background in Revit and a passion for leveraging technology to improve construction efficiency and accuracy. The role works closely with project managers, superintendents, and field crews to create detailed drawing sets that ensure seamless construction project execution.
Accountabilities:
- VDC standardization and quality control.
- VDC modeling and implementation.
- Collaboration and stakeholder support.
- Data management and visualization.
- Technical support for VDC technology and software.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Revit modeling and detailing
- Convert engineer design model to construction model and maintain in Revit for various phases of water and wastewater treatment plant projects.
- Create highly detailed fabrication and installation drawings from the Revit models for use by our self-performing field crews. Heavy focus on concrete, process pipe, and mechanical pipe detailing.
- Ensure all models and details adhere to project specifications, industry standards, and company best practices.
- Clash detection and coordination
- Perform regular clash detection on project models to identify and resolve conflicts between different building systems (e.g., structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical).
- Collaborate with project teams to find practical and efficient solutions to clashes before they impact the field.
- Logistics planning
- Utilize 3D models to assist with site logistics planning, including crane placement, material laydown areas, and construction sequencing.
- Visualize and communicate complex construction phasing to project stakeholders.
- Team collaboration and communication
- Participate in weekly project meetings with field teams to discuss upcoming work, review work plans, and address any VDC-related challenges.
- Act as a technical resource for the project team regarding VDC processes.
- Produce accurate, coordinated project documents per field/project requirements and company standards.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of the project team, from laborers to project executives.
Essential Skills & Abilities:
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit is required.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, especially in the context of mechanical, plumbing, process piping, and structural systems.
- Excellent spatial reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents, including plans, specifications, and submittals.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Education and Experience Needed:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management or an engineering discipline preferred - equivalent work experience accepted.
- 2-3 years of professional experience using Autodesk Revit in a construction or engineering environment or MEP discipline.
- Experience with self-performing contractors is a significant plus.
Bonus Qualifications and Experience (Not required, but a plus):
- Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud (BIM360) or similar cloud-based modeling services.
- Experience with Trimble Field Points software and/or total station/layout equipment.
- Experience with 3D laser scanning and point cloud data processing.
- Experience writing and implementing Dynamo script.
- Experience creating and managing Revit family databases.
- Experience creating Revit project templates and standards.
- Proficiency in other VDC-related software (e.g., Navisworks, Civil 3D, Bluebeam Studio, Assemble Systems, VR systems).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Teams task management and communication.
Travel: Limited day trips and limited overnight travel expected.

Compensation: Competitive salary commensurate with experience ($70,000-$90,000/year), health insurance, medical and dependent care flex spending account options, 401(k), PTO, and paid holidays.
